On June 8, 2018 the world lost a great culinary mind. Anthony Bourdain left this world and headed to other journeys. We at Best Bites Marketing and Trinity Web Media wish to offer or condolences to Chef’s family, friends, fans and partners.
Our roles at Best Bites are very duplicative. To a person, each one of the Trinity Web Media team members are professional digital marketers, but we also enjoy and understand the marketing and consumption of food. Best Bites is our division of passion, where our excitement for food takes us to places never imagined.
While working in San Francisco, I had the pleasure of dining at R&G Lounge. Only after my first experience at R&G did I find out it was featured on Travel Channel’s No Reservations, hosted by Anthony Bourdain. I felt cool, hip and in the know to take clients to R&G without knowing its television history. Anthony Bourdain gave that to me, and I thank him.

In a Business Insider article dated October 11, 2017, Bourdain rips Yelp users. From a business owner, marketing professional point of view, I cannot agree with him more. But ignore Yelp at your own peril.
“They’re bad for chefs, they’re bad for restaurants”
Bourdain makes a great point. User-generated content (UGC) is essential, but sometimes Yelp values UGC over accuracy. Yelp reviews are 100% subjective. While subjective, as business owners, they cannot be ignored. They can be an indicator of other things with your food based business. Pay attention, don’t overreact and adapt accordingly.
The one thing you can do is make sure your local search information is accurate. Making sure your hours of operations are current eliminates potentially scathing posts.
Bourdain on Instagram
Admittedly, Instagram is a weird food phenomenon.
“I put up just a picture of an In-N-Out burger sitting on a table in isolation in an anonymous room, I’ll get 50,000 passionate likes and comments in like 10 minutes. It’s incredible, because people relate to certain foods and feel strongly about them.”
